It is easy to say that people suffering from alcohol dependence must undergo a rehabilitation program in alcohol treatment centers. The problem however is that people don't know whether they are just inclined to frequent drinking or they are already drug dependents.
In order to find this out, ardent alcohol drinkers must assess themselves whether they possess three characteristics in taking in alcohol. First, a very strong and persistent craving to drink, second, there is loss of moderation, or in other words, if drinking is frequently uncontrolled despite of being in front of many activities and responsibilities, third, there is high tolerance, or the need to drink a lot of bottles before reaching the “high” or the pleasurable effects of the substance, and last but not the least, there are withdrawal symptoms, like experiencing nausea and anxiety when drinking is stopped for some period.
Many people perceive alcohol treatment centers as dark prisons where patients are incarcerated until they get used to the absence of drinking. Treatment centers are definitely not like that.
